A superb example of the best of American violin making from the Boston school in the late 1800’s, this violin was made in Weymouth, MA in 1874. The hand written label states that it was made from “old wood.” It’s even older now, and covered in a golden amber to reddish brown varnish, is beautiful to behold. The scroll is beautifully carved, with evident skill and character. The tone is warm and strong. Condition is excellent. This is both a collector’s and a player’s instrument.
